HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction is notifying the public that a drainage improvement project will soon begin on ʻAukai Avenue in Kāhala.

The project will involve installing infrastructure to provide additional support for the existing drainage system. Construction will include placing a new concrete slab-on-grade, installing stainless steel security bars, installing reinforced concrete pipe with an inline check valve, and implementing best management practices for dust, erosion, sediment, and water pollution control.

Construction is expected to begin on October 12, 2026, and is anticipated to last approximately 6 months, weather permitting. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (excluding holidays).

The project, valued at $254,645, will be completed by Drayco Construction Inc. The contractor will work to minimize the impact on homeowners, area residents, and the general public. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through the area and asked to follow all posted warning signs, barriers, traffic control devices, and/or personnel.

Questions and comments may be directed to the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction at (808) 768-8400.
