Public Informational Meetings on Hawaiian Electric’s Service Reliability and Weather Related Impacts

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission will hold public informational meetings across the state featuring presentations from Hawaiian Electric, the Consumer Advocate, and Commission staff on recent weather‑related service impacts from the Kona Low storms, Hurricane Lala, and Hurricane Lowell, along with an overview of potential resiliency and reliability solutions under consideration, including estimated costs and possible implementation timelines.

Following the presentations, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions directly to the companies and the Consumer Advocate. These meetings are intended to support public participation and encourage community members to share customer concerns and feedback to inform service reliability and future planning of Hawaii’s energy system.

A schedule for upcoming meeting dates and locations is provided below. The Commission also plans to hold meetings in Central Oahu/Urban Honolulu, on Hawaiʻi Island’s West, South, and East sides, and in Maui County on Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. These meetings will be added to the schedule once their dates and locations are finalized.
